LPG Autogas is stored as a liquid. Tanks are filled to max 80% capacity. Measured in liters or kg (density ≈ 0.54 kg/L at 15°C).
See how much fuel your tank can safely hold in liters, kg, and m³.
Enter the tank size in water liters — this is the physical internal volume printed on the cylinder plate.

Critical factors that affect real-world fuel capacity and cost.
LPG is stored as liquid propane/butane. Liquids expand when heated — sometimes by 10–15% in summer. The 20% vapor cushion allows for this thermal expansion without triggering the pressure relief valve, preventing dangerous venting of raw fuel.
CNG capacity depends on station fill pressure (typically 200 bar but may be lower), ambient temperature (warm gas is less dense), and the gas composition (methane content). A "full" fill at a low-pressure station may deliver only 70–85% of the theoretical weight.
Both fuels are temperature-sensitive. LPG liquid expands in heat (OPD valve compensates). CNG gas stored at fixed pressure weighs less when warm. Expect slight capacity variations between seasons — typically 5–10% difference between summer and winter.
The values printed on your cylinder's certification plate — water capacity, test pressure, design pressure, tare weight — always take precedence over any calculator estimate. Consult your installer or manufacturer if specifications are unclear.
