Ceramic and porcelain tiles remain the most popular in Bangladesh for both floors and walls due to their affordability, water resistance, and easy maintenance. Marble is popular in premium apartments. Vinyl/LVP is rapidly growing due to its waterproof nature and easy DIY installation. Laminate wood is popular for bedrooms in urban apartments.
10% wastage is standard for straight-lay tile installation. Use 15% for diagonal (45°) or herringbone patterns, and up to 20% for complex cuts or very large format tiles. This calculator defaults to 10% but lets you adjust it.

As of 2024-25, imported marble (Italian/Spanish) costs ৳150–500 per sqft depending on quality and thickness. Local Rajshahi marble is cheaper at ৳80–150/sqft. Installation adds ৳25–50/sqft. Always get a current quote from your supplier.
Yes — LVP (Luxury Vinyl Plank) and LVT are 100% waterproof and ideal for Bangladesh's humid climate. They handle moisture far better than laminate or hardwood. They are also termite-resistant, which is a major advantage in Bangladesh.
Ceramic or porcelain tiles are best for bathrooms due to their 100% water resistance. Use non-slip (matte finish or textured) tiles on floors. Avoid marble in wet areas without proper sealing. Never use laminate, hardwood, or bamboo in bathrooms.
