Formula & How It Works

Fuel needed  = Distance ÷ Fuel Efficiency
Fuel Cost    = Fuel needed × Fuel Price

Extra Costs  = Toll + Food Cost + Hotel Cost
               + Visa Cost + Other

Daily Food   = Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner + Snacks
Food Cost    = Daily Food × Persons × Days
Hotel Cost   = Room Rate × Rooms × Nights
Visa Cost    = Visa Fee × Persons

Total Trip Cost = Fuel Cost + Extra Costs

Base Cost    = Ticket Price × Passengers

Extra Costs  = Toll + Food Cost + Hotel Cost
               + Visa Cost + Other

  Use Real BD Fuel Prices — Check Before Your Trip

  For car trips in Bangladesh, use BDT 110–125/L for petrol and BDT 89–100/L for diesel as a starting estimate. Octane is BDT 127/L. Always check the current BPC pump price before entering your figure.

  Fuel Cost = (Distance ÷ Efficiency) × Current Pump Price

  Add 10–15% Buffer for Dhaka Traffic

  Stop-and-go city driving cuts fuel efficiency significantly compared to highway figures. Add a 10–15% overhead to your fuel cost estimate for any route that passes through Dhaka or other major cities.

  Adjusted Fuel Cost = Calculated Fuel Cost × 1.10–1.15

  Compare Car vs Bus for Group Travel

  For 3–4 passengers, splitting car fuel is often cheaper per person than individual bus tickets. Run the calculator twice — once in Car mode, once in Bus mode — and check the per-person figure.

  Cost Per Person = Total Trip Cost ÷ Number of Passengers

  Book Intercity Tickets Early for Eid & Holidays

  Bus and train fares are fixed in Bangladesh, but seats sell out days ahead during Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, and public holidays. Book at least 3–5 days in advance on long-distance routes.

  Compare Sleeper Train vs Bus + Hotel for Overnight Routes

  For overnight routes like Dhaka–Chittagong or Dhaka–Sylhet, an AC sleeper berth (BDT 900–1,800) is often comparable in total cost to a bus ticket plus a hotel night. Use the hotel field to compare both scenarios.

  Train Total = AC Berth × Passengers
  Bus Total = Ticket × Passengers + Hotel/Night

  Check Visa & Entry Fees Well Ahead for International Trips

  Visa fees, airport departure taxes, and port entry charges can significantly increase international travel costs. Some visas require advance applications that take weeks — research early and enter the fee in the Visa / Entry Fee field.

  International Total = Ticket + Visa Fee + Airport Tax + Hotel + Food
