Methodology
This section explains the calculation logic, assumptions, and source material used to make the result more trustworthy and easier to verify.
Total BDT Received = Base Converted BDT + Government Incentive + Bank Bonus. Converted BDT = Foreign Currency Amount × Exchange Rate. Government Incentive = Converted BDT × 2.5%. Bank Bonus = Converted BDT × 2.5%.
To encourage expats to send money home via legal banking channels rather than informal networks (Hundi), the government of Bangladesh provides a flat 2.5% cash incentive on all inward remittances. If you send ৳100,000 officially, the recipient gets ৳102,500.
Yes, most commercial banks in Bangladesh (such as Sonali Bank, Islami Bank, Agrani Bank) offer an additional 2.5% cash bonus from their own funds to compete for deposits. This increases the total incentive to 5% of the converted remittance value.
The incentive is credited automatically by the beneficiary's bank or mobile wallet provider. The recipient does not need to apply separately; the bonus BDT is directly added to the transfer amount during payout.
Yes, inward remittances received directly into personal mobile financial service (MFS) accounts like bKash, Nagad, or Rocket are fully eligible for the standard 2.5% government cash incentive, credited instantly.
Beneficiaries who cash out remittance funds from their mobile wallets pay standard cash-out fees. For the bKash app, this is 1.85% (৳18.50 per ৳1,000), while Nagad app charges 1.25% (৳12.50 per ৳1,000). Use this calculator to estimate the net cash remaining after withdrawal.

Bangladesh Remittance Incentive Rules
• A flat 2.5% government cash incentive (regulated by the Bangladesh Bank) applies to inward remittances sent via registered banking or mobile wallet institutions.
• Expatriate workers (Wage Earners) sending money to personal MFS/bank accounts get these bonuses credited automatically in BDT.
• Direct bank-to-bank transfers do not carry cash-out fees, while mobile wallet transactions incur standard agent withdrawal charges.
